How can I stay at the Ronald McDonald House of South Louisiana?

Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Louisiana provides accommodation for families with pediatric patients who are 21 years old or younger. To initiate the process, please reach out to the social worker, nurse, or healthcare professional at the hospital where your child will be treated. They will assist in completing a Patient Referral through our website.

After the referral is submitted, you will receive an email from our automated system, allowing you to complete your “Registration Packet” and Background Check. During busy periods, your name will be added to our waiting list based on our priority admission.

It is important to note that each child's treatment plan is unique, leading to variations in family stays at the House. As a result, we cannot confirm or guarantee room reservations. We encourage you to contact the House closer to your planned arrival date for an update on your status.

What is Priority Admission?

Accepted Answer

All requests are subject to House availability. Priority Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. However, when the House reaches 75% capacity the following takes precedence.

Patients of CHNOLA or other area hospitals receiving intensive care (NICU | PICU | CICU) or need long-term, in-patient care.
Patients of CHNOLA receiving short-term, in-patient treatment.
Patients being hospitalized for surgical care in an area hospital.
Patients receiving out-patient, intensive medical care services from CHNOLA or other licensed medical providers.

What does it cost to stay at the Ronald McDonald House of South Louisiana?

Accepted Answer

If possible, the family is requested to make a $10 per night donation however, no family is ever turned away if they are unable to contribute. The difference is made up through donations. Thank you to our generous donors who ensure every family in need has a place to stay.

How long can I stay at the Ronald McDonald House of South Louisiana?

Guest families are allowed to stay at RMHCSLA as long as the hospital social worker or medical professional deems that the family has a critical need to continue their stay.

What if my family has recently stayed at the Ronald McDonald House of South Louisiana?

Accepted Answer

Returning families who have stayed within the past six months at the Ronald McDonald House of South Louisiana can complete the Returning Family Room Request form. Once your room request has been received and the background check has been passed, you will be placed on a waitlist and will be contacted when a room becomes available. Please note that a Returning Family Room Request does not guarantee room availability.

Portions of the annual operating costs for the House are graciously funded by owner/operators of local McDonald’s restaurants through the community Round-up Program.

How can I stay at the Family Room in Lafayette?

Families who have never stayed at Ronald McDonald Family Room:

A referral must be completed by your child’s hospital social worker or another medical professional in the hospital and submitted no more than 5 days prior to the date you need to stay at the Ronald McDonald Family Room.
Once a referral has been received and a background check has been passed, you will be placed on a waitlist and will be contacted when a room becomes available.

Families needing a special place to rest and regroup:

Use the “Day Use Only” button below to request access to the Family Room.
The Family Room is available for day use on a first come, first serve basis. We ask guests to limit their day use of the Family Room to a maximum of two hours.
Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult to enter and may not be left unattended.
