2-year-old Myles had his first open heart surgery at 4 days old. He came back from the OR with his chest already closed, when usually the chest remains open for a few days. The medical staff was shocked and at that moment the family knew that Myles had a brave, fighting spirit. Myles will soon be having his third open heart surgery, called the Fontan Procedure, which redirects venous blood from the body directly to the pulmonary arteries, allowing it to flow to the lungs for oxygenation without passing through the heart.
